In collaborative environments, templates are often shared across teams to ensure consistency and efficiency when sending documents for signing. However, there are times when you may need to update or adjust a shared template, even if you’re not its original creator — for example, to fix a form field, update recipient roles, or revise outdated content.
SignNow makes it easy for team members and administrators to work together on shared templates while maintaining proper access controls. Depending on the permissions granted by the template owner or team settings, you can make edits, duplicate templates, or create new versions to reflect the most recent information or workflow requirements.
1. Click on the three dots next to the template owned by another user in the Shared Templates folder and click the Create a Document Copy button.
2. Name your new document in the pop-up and hit the Create Copy button.
Once the new form appears in your Documents folder, you can treat it like any other document you own. From there, you can convert it into a template and move it to the Shared Team Templates folder for team-wide use.
