Request a Signature: Draw, Type, or Upload Options

Control how signers add their signatures.

Updated over 2 months ago

SignNow lets you customize how recipients add their signatures by allowing or restricting options: draw, type, or upload. Limiting signature types is valuable for ensuring brand consistency, legal compliance, or ease of signing.

Examples:

  • Draw only: Use for contracts requiring handwritten-style signatures.

  • Type only: Ideal for internal approvals where speed is prioritized.

  • Upload only: Helpful when a signer’s official scanned signature is required.

This control gives you flexibility and ensures documents meet your organization’s standards.

Once the document is uploaded to your account, open it in editing mode and add fillable fields as usual. After placing a signature field, a panel on the right will appear with signature setup options.

If you want to restrict all invites to use the Draw signature option only, this setting can be enabled at the Organization/Workspace level in the Organization/Workspace settings.
