Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) in SignNow enhances your account security by requiring an additional verification step during login. In addition to your password, you’ll enter a one-time code sent to your verified device or email, ensuring that only authorized users can access your account.
Setting up two-factor authentication (2FA) is a simple yet powerful way to protect your sensitive documents, templates, and personal data from unauthorized access. This added security layer is particularly important for organizations that handle confidential contracts, financial records, or client information.
📝 Two-Factor Authentication is available only for single invites and is not supported for bulk invites or invite links at this time.
Only select SignNow plans have access to two-factor authentication. To see if this feature is included in your subscription, please check the SignNow pricing page for details.
2FA Setup
On the Invite Page, click the gear icon next to the recipient’s name to open the Authentication and Settings panel on the right. From there, you can choose the Authentication Type that best fits your security needs — Password, Text Message (SMS), or Phone Call. When you are done configuring the authentication, hit the Apply button at the bottom right side, finalize the invite setup, and hit the Send Invite button.
For SMS and Phone Call authentication, SignNow automatically delivers a one-time verification code to the recipient’s registered phone number. The signer must enter this code before accessing the document, ensuring that only the intended person can open and sign it.
Supported countries: United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Australia, Mexico, Spain, Germany, South Africa, Singapore, France, New Zealand, Italy, Belgium, Netherlands, Brazil, Chile, Uruguay, Argentina, Colombia, Philippines, Indonesia, India, South Korea, Taiwan, Macau, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Brunei, Cambodia, Myanmar, Israel, El Salvador, Ireland, Portugal, Greece, Austria, Lithuania, Finland, Slovakia, Croatia, Cyprus, Malta, Slovenia, Latvia, Estonia, Luxemburg, Montenegro, Andorra, Monaco, San Marino.
If you choose Password authentication, you’ll need to manually share the password with the recipient through a secure, separate communication channel (for example, via phone call, encrypted message, or in person). The password is not sent automatically by SignNow, so it’s the sender’s responsibility to make sure the recipient receives it safely.
📝 Never include the password in the same email or chat message as the signing invite — this helps prevent unauthorized access and keeps your document secure.
